Conor Maynard wants to work with Ed Sheeran.

The 'Vegas Girl' star is hoping to join forces with fellow British singer Ed or laid-back crooner John Mayer on his second album because he thinks their guitar skills would help show off his voice with a radically different acoustic sound.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''I want to work with singer/songwriters. I'm hoping to work with Ed Sheeran or John Mayer. The first album was very much about the big up-tempo numbers and now it's time to get into something a bit more intimate and acoustic to really show my voice.

''I'm not going to move away completely from the upbeat songs as I love doing them but I'd love to try some new stuff. You've got to experiment, don't you!''

The 20-year-old chart-topper worries people are still comparing him to Canadian superstar Justin Bieber and hopes fans with look past their virally-assisted rise to fame to distinguish between their different musical visions.

Conor explained: ''I definitely do feel flattered, he's obviously one of the biggest artists in the world right now so to be compared to that is really cool. But I feel like while there are some similarities, there are some differences too.

''The similarities are that we're both young and found fame on YouTube but the differences are musically and I think once people hear the music and the album they see the differences and we have different influences. As people hear the music they seem to realise that.''
