Michael Jackson's former doctor, Conrad Murray, has launched an appeal bid against his involuntary manslaughter conviction and wants to be allowed to leave prison while the case is reviewed.
Dr. Conrad Murray has launched a second appeal over his conviction for the death of Michael Jackson.
The disgraced physician - who was sentenced to four years jail for the involuntary manslaughter of the King of Pop, who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 - has requested he be allowed to leave prison, where he has spent the last 13 months, while the legal process examining his case is being examined, documents obtained by website TMZ show.
The medic insists he is not a flight risk because he has a young child who lives in Los Angeles, and claimed he does not pose a danger to the community. In the papers, he stresses his belief he was wrongly convicted.
The appeal bid comes less than two months after Murray was denied the chance to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest and His lawyer, Valerie Wass, said at the time: ''The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department maintains that Dr. Murray isn't eligible for house arrest or electronic monitoring.''
Many lower risk criminals have been transferred to tagging schemes due to overcrowding in Los Angeles jails. While no reason was given for Dr. Murray's request being refused, he has previously been refused bail on account of his being assessed as a flight risk.
