Cyndi Lauper joined with the M.A.C cosmetics AIDS Fund to give out care packs for youngsters for World AIDS Day.

The 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' singer spent the day at the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and transgender Youth Center in New York's West Village giving away the packs containing condoms and cosmetics and warning at risk teens of the perils of AIDS

She told people.com: "We have to communicate with our kids. Give your girls lipstick, and remind them that every time they put their M.A.C Viva Glam lipstick on and go out, to protect themselves.

"We have to empower youth to protect themselves and protect those they love. We can't allow them to be at risk any longer."

Cyndi also gave out some stark warnings and statistics in order to help raise awareness on the global day against the disease.

She added: "If you get yourself sick with AIDS, you'll either be dead or living with AIDS. It's hard to go through life with a compromised immune system. AIDS is 100 per cent preventable, but it's 100 per cent not curable."

The M.A.C AIDS Fund has raised more than $224 million to fight HIV/AIDS to date, and counts Lady GaGa, Ricky Martin and Nicki Minaj among its supporters.
