The dance music community is mourning the death of Daft Punk collaborator Romanthony.

The vocalist - best known as the voice behind the dance duo's 2000 hit 'One More Time' - died aged 46 earlier this month, but news of his passing has only just reached his contemporaries.

Leading tributes, DJ Roger Sanchez wrote online: ''What is going on? I just heard that Romanthony died - 4 those who don't know he was the voice of Daft Punk's One More Time - sad. We're losing legends this year (sic).''

French DJ Cassius tweeted: ''Romanthony... So sad.''

German DJ and producer Boys Noize wrote: ''It is so sad :( Romanthony and me were working on such an amazing song together. he said it was the best song he had ever written (sic).''

Romanthony, real name Anthony Moore, passed away on May 7. The cause of his death has yet to be released.

His sister, Mellony Moore, wrote on Facebook: ''My baby brother Romanthony AKA Anthony Moore passed away 7 May 2013 at his home in Austin, Texas.

''Thank you for your calls and prayers, my brother was a musical genius.

''Our family is shocked with grief. A memorial service is being planned for a future date.''

Romanthony released four albums under his own name between 1997 and 2000, but is best known for working with Daft Punk, co-writing and singing on 'One More Time' and 'Too Long' from their 2001 album 'Discovery'.

Speaking about him in 2001, Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo said: ''We met him at the 1996 Winter Music Conference and became friends. What's odd is that Romanthony and [another collaborator] Todd Edwards are not big in the United States at all.

''Their music had a big effect on us. The sound of their productions is part of how we sound today. Because they mean something to us, it was much more important for us to work with them than with other big stars.''
