After 20 years away, Dallas returns to television this month with a cast that includes original star Larry Hagman as the scheming J.R Ewing. The series - following the oil-rich Ewing family - ran from 1978 to 1991, though it makes its comeback with a two-hour premiere on June 13, 2012.

Hagman personified 'Dallas' during its peak years, and he's reportedly back "in all his conniving glory". During a chat with USA Today ahead of the new series, Hagman said, "It's like coming home, honey. It's been 20 years, and it's just gone by like that. It's unbelievable. It's like nothing happened in between". Though most of the original series was actually shot in California, the crew and actors have filmed the majority of the new show in and around Texas, most notably at the Cowboys Stadium and on the grounds of The Winspear Opera House. Asked whether J.R. has mellowed in his later years, Hagman joked, "I sure hope not". The actor battled an undisclosed form of cancer last year, though says he relished the chance to get back to work and film opposite Patrick Duffy, who plays his brother Bobby. He said, "We had a good time making the show, and we kept our relationships going for 20 years. We have lunch or dinner or something like that at least twice a month. I mean, how many people do that? How many people stay married for 20 years, for God's sake?".

The new series of 'Dallas' will initially run for ten episodes on TNT in the United States, as well as on Channel 5 in the UK, and Bravo in Canada.
