Rocker Damon Albarn has created a unique 'audio collage' of music, voices and strange sounds to be broadcast simultaneously on every Bbc radio station across the U.K. in celebration of 90 years of the wireless.

The Blur frontman composed a special track for the occasion which will form the backdrop to a mix of around 60 recorded messages chosen by radio station bosses and submitted by listeners around the world.

The three-minute transmission, named 2Lo Calling in honour of an early Bbc station, will reach a potential global audience of 120 million.

Albarn tells Bbc Radio 4, "The idea was people would be asked the question, 'What message would you give to somebody listening in 90 years' time?' There was this sort of anxiety and then there were a few younger minds musing on this and they in a way were the most interesting because they were very free and in a sense the only people who will have any connection with 90 years."

The musician also reveals the piece will include the chimes of London landmark Big Ben, the birdsong of a skylark, the name of Nobel Prize winning author Bertrand Russell in Morse code, the Bbc radio pips and the sound of a Cold War spy station.

Albarn adds, "There's Bertrand Russell in Morse code, there's a skylark and there's a scary Cold War spy station. I tried to get the history of radio in a very abstract way. I don't know what people will make of it - it is what it is."

The Radio Reunited event will be broadcast on 14 November (12) at 5.33pm Gmt, marking exactly 90 years since the first ever Bbc broadcast from 2Lo.
