Chaz Bono wowed the judges in his first performance on 'Dancing With The Stars'.

The 42-year-old contestant - who was born a female named Chastity and began gender reassignment surgery around three years ago - received positive comments from the panellists during his first dance on the programme with professional partner Lacey Schwimmer, which saw him get 17 points out of 30.

Len Goodman referred to him as "Razzmataz Chaz", adding he had "good footwork and great attitude" - and judge Carrie Ann Inaba said: "I think people have been waiting all night to see you, Chaz. And you did not disappoint."

Bruno Tonioli added: "So cuddly and cute. Great, great debut, Chaz. You should be proud."

Prior to the programme - chat show host Ricki Lake, George Clooney's ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, reality TV star Rob Kardashian and former 'The Hills' beauty Kristin Cavallari - Chaz, whose mother is pop star Cher, revealed on his twitter page his training sessions with Lacey had been "going really well".

He tweeted: "Dancing rehearsal with @LaceySchwimmer is going really well. I had a little breakthrough today and I'm getting all the choreography down."
