Dancing With The Stars Week 3: An Emotional Night For Katherine Jenkins
Last night's Dancing With The Stars proved to be an emotional evening for the Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins, the Daily Mail reports. The 31 year-old broke down in tears after she dedicated her waltz to her late father, Selwyn. Katherine's dad died of lung cancer when she was just a teenager. Despite obviously finding the challenge tough to deal with, she scored a near-perfect 29 out of 30, with her partner Mark Ballas.
The theme of the week was 'Most Memorable Year' and the tears flowed across the set, with judge Carrie Ann Inaba telling Jenkins "It's like your father's arms were around you." However, Katherine's mood was instantly lifted when she saw her remarkable score, when she was seen looking ecstatic. She took time to hug her mother, who was in the audience supporting her. She told the show's host Brooke Burke Charvet "For all of us, it's been a tough week emotionally. I'm just so pleased to celebrate my dad's life."
Katherine's dance wasn't the only emotional moment in the show. Sherri Shepherd chose 2005 as her memorable year; the year that her son was born 15 week premature and she was informed that he would suffer from paralysis and cerebral palsy. Thankfully, this turned out no to be the case. "He does not have cerebral palsy; he is not paralysed and I am so thankful. I want to show Jeffrey through this rumba how much I love him." The scores for Week 3 saw Katherine and Mark top the leader board once more. They were closely followed by William Levy and Cheryl Burke, who performed a salsa.
