Daniel Craig joined British troops in Afghanistan to watch a screening of 'Skyfall' yesterday (18.11.12).
The 007 star surprised 800 personnel stationed at Camp Bastion in the Helmand Province as they prepared to watch the latest James Bond film, before taking a ''morale-boosting'' tour of the base and watching the soldiers train.
He also stopped to talk to medical staff and patients at the Bastion Role 3 Hospital before being given a ride in their new armoured Foxhound vehicle.
Despite the groundbreaking technology, Craig - who was surrounded by gadgets for his role as the notorious spy - was ''comfortable'' in the driving seat of the roadster, which gives protection to troops during their patrol.
Force Master Driver Rob Ingham, who gave Craig the demonstration, said: ''We get quite a lot of visitors here, but having James Bond was special. He seemed to be pretty comfortable in the driving seat.''
As an end to the visit, Daniel was given a lesson on how to use Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and worked with Search Task Force teams to learn techniques for finding bombs on the roadside.
Squadron Sergeant Major Paul Ward said: ''His interest in the work of the EOD and Search Task Force is really appreciated.
''Our training is critical to keeping Afghans and our own soldiers safe.''
The soldiers agreed with critics and fans that 'Skyfall' is the best Bond film ever, with Royal Air Force Sergeant Dave Hammond saying: ''It was like a return to the old James Bonds.
''There was a bit of humour and some spectacular effects. It was great to be able to see the film here and to have James Bond himself to introduce it was brilliant.''
