Danny Boyle - Danny Boyle Unveils William Shakespeare Theme For Olympics
Danny Boyle is taking inspiration from famed playwright William Shakespeare for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London this summer (12).
The Slumdog Millionaire director has revealed the kick-off event will be called Isles of Wonder and will take cues from Shakespeare's classic play The Tempest.
The staged spectacular will tell the story of a land that has been ruined by industry, and its subsequent recovery.
He explains, "We'll be celebrating the whole of the country... there are so many Isles of Wonder."
Boyle has also commissioned Europe's largest ringing bell, which will be inscribed with The Tempest quote, "Be not afeard, the isle is full of noises", and will sound at the Games' opening.
An estimated one billion TV viewers will watch the opening ceremony on 27 July (12).
