Dave Grohl and Ryan Adams were among the musicians who honoured Bob Mould at a tribute concert in Los Angeles on Monday night (21Nov11).
The stars rocked out at the Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of the See a Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould show.
The former Husker Du and Sugar star sat in the audience as Spoon's Britt Daniel and the Hold Steady's Craig Finn sang renditions of his songs, while comedienne Margaret Cho also entertained the crowd.
Singer Adams kicked off the second half of the extravaganza by performing acoustic versions of Heartbreak a Stranger and Black Sheets of Rain.
But the biggest show of the night came from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who invited Mould to tour with the band earlier this year (11).
Grohl told the audience as he stepped on to the stage, "If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be making music the way I do, or play guitar the way I do. His albums have really shaped me as a musician as much as the Beatles, as much as Led Zeppelin. He's a real hero of mine and a real American icon."
Following a six-song set Grohl was then given a standing ovation before making way for Mould to step on stage.
The legendary musician looked visibly touched as he told the crowd, "I'm sort of speechless. The cruel joke in this whole thing is... if I didn't have such a strange childhood, and all this anger that I was carrying around and channelling into my music, I don't know if we would be in this spot tonight."
Mould then closed the show by singing four of his own songs.
