Dave Grohl never listens to Foo Fighters' records.

The singer and guitarist with the 'Rope' group is usually so tired of hearing the same songs over and over after recording he doesn't listen to them, although this isn't the case with the band's latest effort, 'Wasting Light'.

Speaking at the Shockwaves NME Awards - where he picked up the Godlike Genius award last night (23.02.11) - he told BANG Showbiz: "Honestly this is the first time we've made a record that I actually like to listen to.

"I haven't listened to Foo Fighters records - the third record ['There Is Nothing Left To Lose'] I listen to a little bit because it reminds me of my home in Virginia - but for the most part, I can't listen to them. This one I've listened to a lot, I like it a lot."

He also revealed at the awards ceremony, held in London, he had considered moving to England, but felt he couldn't after being chosen for an award with such an ego-stroking title.

He added: "There was a time when I considered moving here, but it's the one country in the world where they give you a Godlike Genius award, I'm like, 'I don't wanna live in that f***ing country, there's no way!'

"My bandmates love it, they've been ribbing me ever since I found I was getting this."

'Wasting Light' will be released on April 12.
