Dave Grohl - Dave Grohl's Sound City Players Announce New York Show
The Foo Fighters star formed the band with pals Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and Rick Springfield to help promote his new documentary about the California studio where they all recorded landmark albums and singles.
Just before the group's debut, Grohl announced a second date in Los Angeles to coincide with the film's theatrical release, and now the group is planning a third show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on the eve of Valentine's Day (13Feb13).
Grohl, Nicks, Fogerty and Springfield will be joined onstage by Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Brad Wilk, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters stars Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Pat Smear.
The veterans teamed up for a three-hour set at the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, during which Fogerty performed five Creedence Clearwater Revival standards and his 1985 solo hit Centerfield, and Nicks belted out Stop Draggin' My Heart Around - her 1981 hit with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - with the Foo Fighters as her backing band.
The Fleetwood Mac star also performed Dreams and Grohl backed her on guitar for an acoustic version of her Landslide hit.
Slipknot's Corey Taylor flew in from Kansas City for the gig and teamed up with Novoselic and Nielsen to run through a medley of Cheap Trick hits, while Grohl also stepped behind the drums to play with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
