David Beckham is very proud of his sons and their impeccable manners.

The Paris Saint Germain footballer and his fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham have tried to raise their three boys, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, and Cruz, seven, to be extremely polite and insist that they show respect to other people.

The 37-year-old star told Man About Town: ''Me and Victoria were brought up with strong discipline by our parents and to have respect for people and our boys have definitely got that.

''They've been saying their please and thank-yous since they were two or three years old. They're very polite boys.

''That's one of the first questions that we ask when we go for meetings at school is about their manners: and it's one of the first things their teachers say - that they've got impeccable manners.''

David, who also has a 21-month-old daughter Harper with Victoria, revealed he is determined to keep their children grounded despite Romeo becoming a model for Burberry recently.

Meanwhile, the British heartthrob admitted he is struggling to learn French since moving to Paris.

He said: ''Not very good. I haven't practiced since I was at school. I'm getting by.''

The footballer has planned a romantic weekend in the French capital as a belated 39th birthday celebration for Victoria.

A source previously said: ''The grandparents are on babysitting duty, meaning David has a whole day and night alone with wife.

''He's booked a five-star hotel and will pull out all the stops.''
