David Beckham is reportedly preparing to spend around 2.9 million on diamonds belonging to the late movie legend Elizabeth Taylor, according to the UK's Daily Star. The Los Angeles Galaxy star is looking to land the jewellery for wife Victoria when it becomes available in the near future.
The 36-year-old will bid for several pieces of the famous collection at an exclusive auction of the actress's jewellery, art and fashion memorabilia. Taylor, who passed away in March, had accumulated a famed collection of diamonds said to be worth around $100 million at the time of her death. Christie's auction house have not released specific details concerning estimates, although it is thought the jewellery could fetch more than the $35 million Jackie Kennedy's estate made in 1993. A source close to Beckham said, "David's been so happy since Harper was born, he feels like him and Victoria are falling in love all over again. He wants to show it with the most impressive gifts possible". The couple welcomed their fourth child and their first girl earlier this year.
Meanwhile, it has been reported Beckham is in talks with football team Paris St. Germain about a possible move to the French capital. His contract runs out with LA Galaxy at the end of the current Major League Soccer season, although it is thought Victoria and their children are keen to the remain in the U.S.
