David Bowie's ex-wife has issued a scathing criticism of the music legend's recent comeback, calling his new song "tired" and hinting the project may signal the end of his career.

The Heroes hitmaker returned to the music scene last month (Jan13), releasing his first new single in a decade and announcing plans for a new album, due in March (13).

However, his ex-wife Angela Bowie, who divorced the superstar in 1980, isn't a fan of the track, titled Where Are We Now?, and she is convinced the retrospective feel of the new music is a nod to the end of Bowie's illustrious career.

In an article for Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper, she writes, "As I listen to his new single Where Are We Now? I can't help but wonder what happened to the musical innovator. I'm not trying to be unkind, but I can't escape the feeling that the retro-introspective mood of the song has one message - 'I'm not going to be here much longer, let's talk about the past...'

"There's nothing about the sound that's new, either. The subject matter is tired - it's a nostalgic look back to the last time he was at the forefront of pop music."

Bowie was married to Angela for nine years and she is the mother of his filmmaker son Duncan Jones.
