David Byrne is set to play a free gig in New York City, it has been revealed.

The former TALKING HEADS frontman will play as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn event, which is scheduled to happen on June 8th.

Those wanting to attend the concert, which takes place in Prospect Park, will be asked to pay a suggested donation of $3 (£2), although this is not obligatory.

Anyone of a wealthy disposition might want to attend the cocktail and dinner evening which precedes the concert, with tickets costing up to $10,000.

Other performers playing in the park this summer include Jackson Browne and ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, although both these events are ticketed.

Recently, Byrne dismissed rumours of a Talking Heads reunion, stating that he did not need the money.

However, he has no qualms about playing the songs of his former band, playing hits including Once in a Lifetime on his recent tour.
