Seventies pop icon David Cassidy broke down during a show in New York on Thursday night (19Jul12) as he paid tribute to late pal Davy Jones.
The former Partridge Family star was planning a co-headlining tour with The Monkees frontman when Jones died in February (12) and he's still struggling to get over the loss.
Cassidy halted his show at B.B. Kings before performing solo renditions of Monkees hits I'm A Believer and Daydream Believer and offered fans a tribute to the singer.
Overcome with emotion, the star said, "I'm gonna take you on a journey through my life; musical life and personal life and talk about some friends of mine. One of them who recently passed away became a very good friend of mine in the last five years. We were scheduled to do a show together a couple of weeks after he passed away and left us. But he left us and me, as a teenager, with a lot of great memories.
"I want to dedicate this one to him, being a big fan of his and theirs (The Monkees)."
Before he began Daydream Believer he introduced his lead guitarist, adding, "Quite an interesting fact that some of you may know or may not, Dave (Robicheau) recently joined the band and prior to that he played with Davy Jones and The Monkees for 14 years."
