Debbi Morgan, the American television and film actress best known for her role as 'Dr Angie Hubbard' in the soap opera 'All My Children', has revealed that she has been suffering from the bacterial infection 'Lyme disease' for the past 15 years. Speaking on the 'TOM JOYNER Morning Show' this week, the 54-year-old said that she is still "healthy in spirit" despite having to live with the chronic condition.
The disease is relatively common in the United States and was first diagnosed in 1975 in a town in Connecticut, from where it derives its name. Symptoms include headaches, fevers and fatigue and if left untreated it can begin to affect the joints, heart and central nervous system. The EMMY AWARD winning Morgan played down the illness and said she hopes to make a comeback on 'All My Children' soon, adding, "It's nothing fatal. Lyme disease is an infection caused by the Borrelia bacteria from a tick. It's a chronic condition, and I've had it in my system for over 15 years".
Morgan appeared in her biggest role to date back in 1999 when she was cast in the hit film 'The Hurricane', which starred Denzel Washington as the boxer 'Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter'.
