Denzel Washington handed hosting duties at a New York gala over to Danny Glover after falling ill just hours before the event.
The Malcolm X star jetted in from Los Angeles to preside over the 100th anniversary bash of the Mount Vernon chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America on Saturday (24Mar12) but called in Glover as a last-minute replacement after coming down with a mystery illness.
Glover took over as master of ceremonies and also presented an award to New York Senator Malcolm A. Smith.
Washington was a member of the youth organisation while growing up in Mount Vernon.
