Zooey Deschanel wasn't disappointed her lead role in a Janis Joplin biopic fell through - because she loved learning to sing like the tragic rocker.
The brunette beauty signed up to play the iconic singer in a revealing movie about the Piece of My Heart star, and spent seven hard months mimicking Joplin's unique performance style and raspy vocals.
Despite her dedication, the project never came to fruition - but Deschanel insists she isn't bitter about the wasted rehearsal time.
She says, "It seems kind of dead now. It's such a fantastic story and a dream role, but it doesn't seem to be want to made, and you can't force these things.
"I don't think any of the work I did was lost. I enjoyed doffing the research, so I don't regret any of it."
