Dicaprio Almost Quit Over Image
Leonardo Dicaprio hated his pretty boy image after shooting to global stardom in Titanic - and wanted to quit making movies.
The actor's fame skyrocketed after he appeared in the 1997 blockbuster, and he was uncomfortable when the spotlight fell on his handsome looks and partying lifestyle.
And he admits he considered walking away from Hollywood because some critics would not give him credit for his acting abilities.
He says, "At first I hated the way I was turned into a pretty boy, as if that was all that was expected of me. It made me almost want to stop acting for a while because the attention that was focused on me was not where I wanted to take my career. I didn't want to do romantic films or anything which just exploited my image or appearance.
"I also kind of had to be more careful about the friends I was hanging out with. I was living a pretty big life for a while and then that just gets tiresome. You get all the partying out of your system, so I live much more quietly these days. I haven't done the nightclub scene in a long, long time. It's boring to tell you the truth."
