Dickinson Slams Sky-high Ticket Prices - Comments and Message Board

Talking from a promoters point of view - bands who come and play the UK increase their fees for some reason therefore promoters have to increase the ticket prices just to try and break even but breaking even is pretty impossible these days! Venues charge a stupid amount of money for promoters to put gigs on too, especially in London!!!I think a brilliant idea would be for Bruce and Co to open Iron Maiden music venues in major towns/cities in the UK and Ireland and let promoters promote from them without charge (the venues can make money in bar takings etc). That way you'll get more touring bands (desperate to play the venues) + smaller bands getting the chance to play good venues + a decent place for music fans to go to. Bands could do an Iron Maiden venue tour too!! I reckon that would be the best thing ever!!!I love Maiden and it would be great if they supported the UK music/metal scene in this way :)Come on guys!! Lets doooooooo it!!Up the irons!!\m/ \m/

Don't get me wrong, I love Maiden, but is Bruce Dickinson an idiot or just a hypocrite?Maiden are charging £60 for standing tickets for their upcoming gig at the O2 in Dublin, and for years they've charged this kind of price for tickets. If that's not considered a "sky high" ticket price, I don't know what is...

This I agree with. I am a big festival goer and find prices quite expensive, but you generally get what you pay for.High Voltage Festival last weekend for example was ferociously priced £75 a day no accomoodation, in the centre of london, raking up bands from the 70's/80's and will probably be the last gig most of them ever do, but there you definately paid for the names. As for individual bands charging huge prices for 1 gig, people will pay it because they want to see them, but often won't see anything else for the rest of the year due to them not being able to justify paying more money out for a live gig. This is when smaller bands luck out as people then struggle to go to local gigs due to lack of funds, plus the smaller bands will gig profusely and end up in debt trying to make a profit out of touring. Its set to stay like this for a while too... Such a shame. But I think Bruce should set up a company in sympathy of this cause and do something about it. If anyone can he can!
