Celine Dion has landed the official song for U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. Dion's You + I will accompany Democrat Clinton as she travels across America in her bid to become the next U.S. leader in next year's (08) election. Clinton last month (May07) launched a competition on her website asking people to vote for which song she should use in her campaign. Among the other tracks in contention were U2 songs City Of Blinding Lights and Beautiful Day, The Staple Singers' I'll Take You There, The Temptations' Get Ready, Shania Twain's Rock This Country! and Dixie Chicks' Ready To Run. Clinton's husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, used Fleetwood MAC classic Don't Stop for his successful campaign in 1992.

i agree smokey, i remember when her husband brought in fleetwood mac for his election ball, and everytime i hear don't stop thinking about tomorrow i think of that occassion. i'm a big u2 fan and don't want to associate songs of their's with this sort of thing, especially without their endoresement. i'm wondering, after watching how she ran her senatorial and now her presidential campaigns, of how she sold seats in a suite to a u2 concert that bono publically was not happy with, of her capitalizing on the education for all act on a media call with him, is this how she'd make decisions in the white house? ask the mtv crowd? bring in bono or his popularity with our without his intention? or find another celebrity to sell her point? sorry, this whole campaign song vote didn't sit well with me. i hope celine is fine with this, wonder if she was even consulted on it, as this song will forever be associated with this campaign. are royalties even a consideration here? it just seems like a violation of an artist, treating their work like public domain. a commercial venture couldn't get away with this, why should a campaign?
