British electronic duo Disclosure have defended their performance a London concert after eagle-eyed fans noticed their mixing gear was unplugged.

Brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence took to the stage with Eliza Doolittle at Capital Fm's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (09Jun13), but angered fans by pretending to play during the set.

A fan posted a snap of their performance onto the I Love Bass Music's Facebook.com page, in which the wire from their mixing desk can be clearly seen trailing to the ground and unplugged, prompting an online backlash from devotees.

Now Guy has spoken out to defend their actions, insisting that they were told to play along to a pre-recorded backing track by concert organisers and decided not to use headphones and make the unplugged cord obvious so as not to mislead the audience.

In a response to the photo on the Facebook page he writes, "Capital Fm made us do this show with a backing track playing but allowed the vocalists to sing... We pleaded with them for weeks and weeks to let us play fully live or at least let us mix but they just weren't having it...

"It was incredibly frustrating and horrible for us to hear our music at Wembley and not actually be able to play it ourselves, as anyone with any knowledge about disclosure knows that we play fully live...

"Notice also that we didnt (sic) try and make it look like we were mixing. We left the f**king plug on the floor on purpose... And Didnt (sic) Even Take Headphones for god sake! (sic)... But yeah it was a very strange experience and one we will not be going through again."
