Disney Will Distribute Gibson's Movie After All
The Disney">Walt Disney Co. said Friday that it plans to fulfill its obligation to distribute Mel Gibson's APOCALYPTO and denied rumors that it had been shopping the movie around, hoping to find another film company to distribute it. "It's not true," Disney spokeswoman Heidi Trotta told Reuters, referring to the rumors. But FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman, who touched them off, said that no other studio "wanted to take on the Gibson baggage with Apocalypto." Friedman wondered, however, about how Disney will be able to market the movie, which has no name stars and is performed in a Mayan dialect, without Gibson available to promote it.
