DJ Mehdi has reportedly died at the age of 34.

The French DJ, producer and musician has died in an accident, reportedly falling from a roof according to djmag.com. A stream of condolences has appeared on Twitter from friends and fellow musicians including DJ Cut Killer “DJ Mehdi! There are no words to tell you the pain I feel... rest in peace, brother” Example “RIP Mehdi. What a lovely fella he was” and Paul Epworth “V sad to hear about DJ Medhi.” The Paris born musician worked as a DJ, remixer and producer before being propelled into international fame as a member of the Ed Banger label before releasing his first solo album in 2002 entitled The Story of Epison. He was also due to play in Australia this summer as part of the Summadayze and Summafieldayze festival tours.

Born in the suburbs of Paris, Dj Mehdi, real name, Mehdi Faveris-Essadi, began his career as a DJ for a variety of groups as well as remixing various electronic acts, he later began to compose soundtracks for a variety of French and international movies. Recognised as one of the leading producers of the French underground hip-hop scene he was credited as a creative force by mixing hip-hop and electronic music and collaborated with other notable artists such as Daft Punk and Cassius. According to djmag.com he died as he was celebrating a friend’s birthday on the rooftop of his home before it collapsed seriously injuring other guests.
