Rapper DMX's estranged wife is preparing to file for divorce to end the couple's troubled 13-year marriage.
The embattled hip-hop star, real name Earl Simmons, wed Tashera in 1999, but their relationship has been rocked by Dmx's frequent infidelity, and they separated in 2010.
The couple reunited to try and work out their problems on U.S. reality TV show Couple's Therapy earlier this year (12), but the recent season finale ended with Tashera asking for a divorce.
She insists the divorce threat wasn't just for TV and she cannot understand why her estranged husband, who has fathered six kids with other women, appeared shocked when she announced their marriage was over for good.
She tells lifestyle website Essence.com, "He couldn't believe it. I don't know why. After going through all the stuff we did - after he did all the things he has done and after us going through therapy - I was just like, I couldn't leave (the show) without asking for a divorce."
And Tashera Simmons claims she owed it to herself to walk away from the troubled relationship for good: "I felt like it was time. I'm (about) self-empowerment now, and I was so totally over the situation. I want to help other women, so I knew I needed to put my relationship on Front Street (on display) so they could see what I was dealing with, and what I chose to do."
The couple has four children together.
