Dolly Parton, the legendary American country singer, has officially released her 41st studio album 'Better Day' (28th June 2011). Dolly Parton's follow up to her 2008 record 'Backwoods Barbie' contains her usual mix of mainstream country, pop and bluegrass.
The release of 'Better Day' comes as Parton prepares for a world tour, with huge shows at the Hollywood Bowl scheduled for 22nd and 23rd of July 2011. After a jaunt across North America, the 65-year-old will head to the UK for shows in Glasgow, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool and London before performing in Denmark and Sweden. Come November, Parton will travel to Australia for shows in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The country singer-songwriter recently joked she'd like to work with Lady GaGa, telling E! Online, "I think it's great. It's just wonderful. I love her. Maybe we should do something together - GooGoo and Gaga! You know those GooGoo candy bars in Nashville? I could be Lady GooGoo" As well as her new record and upcoming world tour, Parton is working on her highly anticipated new movie 'Joyful Noise', set for release in 2012. The movie follows the story of two choir members who hold differing opinions on how to win a national competition.
Dolly Parton, considered to be one of the most successful female artists of all time, has performed on a top-five country hit in each of the last five decades.
