Dolly Parton wears high heels at home - because she can't reach her cabinets if she doesn't.

The diminutive country legend is famous for her love of stacked shoes, and although she denies rumours she wears her heels in the shower, she admits she does wear them around her home to give her 5ft frame a boost.

In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, she said: "I wear high heels in the house - otherwise I can't reach the cabinets! I don't wear my heels in the shower or when I sleep - and I wear my little tennis shoes when I do my treadmill - but when I go out, of course I will. That's my look and that's how I'm always gonna be."

Dolly - who lives with her husband of 45 years Carl Dean - insists her perfectly preened look doesn't take her long to achieve in the mornings, because she has mastered her routine over the years.

She said: "It doesn't take long because I'm programmed for it, First thing I do in the morning, after I have my breakfast and do my spiritual work, is put on my make-up and fix my hair, and I can do my make-up in 15 minutes."

The '9 to 5' star has no plans to overhaul her brash style as her career enters a new decade because her clothes are one of trademarks.

Dolly - who has just released her 41st studio album, 'Better Day' - said: "I'm not trying to be fashionable, never was! I got some clothes that I've had for 25 years. People say, 'That's Dolly, Dolly does what Dolly does,' and Dolly does!"
