Dominic Monaghan warned Martin Freeman he will forever be known as Bilbo Baggins once 'The Hobbit' is released.

The 'Office' actor plays the main character in the movie based on the JRR Tolkien prequel and Dominic - who shot to fame as Meriadoc Brandybuck in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy - admitted he is still known as a hobbit despite other projects including 'Lost' and his new adventure series 'Wild Things'.

Dominic exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''I didn't give him advice because Martin is older than me but he asked me a few things about New Zealand and reshoots and working with Peter Jackson.

''I told him he'll be known as Bilbo Baggins for the rest of his life as me, Elijah [Wood] and all of the others are still known as hobbits. But he seemed delighted with that and to be involved in the project.''

Dominic also revealed he would jump at the chance to work with Peter again and feels closer to him than any director he has ever worked with.

He said: ''I'd love to work with Pete again, that's probably the closest relationship I've made with a director in my life. I know his family and we have lots of the same interests. I'd never put Pete under any pressure by saying I'd love to be in this next project but I hope that I continue to work with him throughout my career.

''But if he called me up I'd be on the plane. There isn't an actor in the world who wouldn't want to work with Pete, he is one of the most talented filmmakers around.''

'Wild Things' airs Friday (09.11.12) at 8pm on Channel 5.
