Douglas 'Proud' Of Labeouf's Wall Street Turn
Michael Douglas was "so proud" of Shia LaBeouf's turn in Wall Street: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS - because he was convinced the Transformers star wouldn't be able to tackle the role.
The actor reprises the infamous Gordon Gekko in the Wall Street sequel, which stars LaBeouf as the fiance of his daughter, played by Carey Mulligan.
Douglas admits he doubted the actor "had the chops" to take on a supporting role which would rival Charlie Sheen's part in the 1987 original - but was left impressed by the 23-year-old's acting.
He says, "Shia, honestly, we were all not sure about whether he had the chops. As you remember from the first, Charlie Sheen carried the movie, Gordon Gekko had very colourful parts but it was not every scene.
"(Shia) knocked it out of the park. I'm so proud of him, he just kicked butt."
