Former DR. WHO SYLVESTER MCCOY has confirmed he's in the running to land a leading role in the Lord Of The Rings prequel The Hobbit.
It's a full circle part for the 67 year old as he almost scored the part of Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. The actor, who was the seventh timelord, lost out to Ian Holm.
Joking about the time it has taken for him to land a role in the J.R.R. Tolkien movie saga, MCCoy says, "When I started out I was 57, but it's taken so long to get to fruition, I'm now 75."
