Drew Barrymore has revealed the identity of the puppy that she rescued from the Barks & Bitches dog rescue centre in Los Angeles earlier this week. The dog, who "looks like a bear" is named Oliver and the Whip It star has been talking to Ellen Degeneres about the new addition to the household that she shares with her new fiance Will Kopelman.

Drew told Ellen that Oliver was originally found in a box with the rest of his litter, outside East Valley Shelter, before he was taken to Barks & Bitches, who helped to find homes for the abandoned pups. The Daily Mail has published photos of Drew with Oliver outside of the centre, where she initially hid the dog under her clothing, to shield him from prying eyes. Barrymore also explained to Ellen that she had not had time to make any wedding plans before heading out on a promotional tour for her new movie, Big Miracle, where, of course, reporters wanted to ask her about her wedding plans. "We're sort of figuring it out," Drew told the talk show host. "This wonderful thing happened and I went on a press tour for this movie, which is funny because it didn't really give me any time to plan and yet a perfect time to ask questions. So the two didn't really match up."

In Big Miracle Drew plays the role of a Greenpeace volunteer who helps her ex-boyfriend in his campaign to save a family of grey whales trapped by ice in the Arctic Circle. It is released tomorrow (February 3, 2012) in the States and the following week in the UK.
