Irish rocker Drew Mcconnell is planning to release his debut solo album just a year after breaking his back in a horrific road crash.
The Babyshambles bassist snapped his spine in three places and suffered injuries to his legs, arms, and ribs when a car knocked him off his bicycle in July last year (11).
He had metal plates inserted into his back and underwent further emergency surgery earlier this year (12), but MCConnell has now reached out to fans to reveal his rock career is on track again.
The musician is planning to release two new songs a month before unveiling his first solo album next year (13).
In a post on his Tumblr.com page, he writes, "A little while ago, whilst in self-imposed exile on a small volcanic island, I wrote and recorded a clutch of songs. Well, the plan is to put one of these songs out every 2 weeks (via music website Bandcamp.com) starting from November 10, and to release a physical record when we reach 12 tunes... Pretty excited to be starting a new project. Here goes something."
