Josh Duhamel has heaped praise on students in Los Angeles for helping to raise funds for the Haiti relief effort by participating in a charity run in California.
Duhamel led the two-mile (3.21-kilometre) Youth Run 4 Haiti along Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (23Jan10) to raise funds for the Caribbean country, which was rocked by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on 12 January (10).
The actor recruited runners at schools across Los Angeles, asking them to pay a minimum entrance fee of $10 (£6.30).
Thousands turned out to show their support - and Duhamel is in awe of their philanthropy.
In a message posted on the Transformers star's website on Saturday, he wrote: "Well, we did it! I just have to say that I am so proud of all of you that came to our big event today.
"I can't say for sure, but I think we had around 3,000 people there. The youth of LA just set an amazing example for the rest of the country and the world! I wish I could personally thank all of you... so grateful for you and admire your compassion for the people of Haiti.
"I would love to get all of your emails, so the next time we all have to get together in an emergency I can call on you. Much love."
All money raised from the run will be donated to the American Red Cross effort for Haitian Earthquake Relief.
