The name of the 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel has been confirmed as 'Dumb and Dumber To'.

The Farrelly Brothers - who are directing the movie - revealed the film's name on their twitter page, following months of rumours.

They wrote: ''You also might be interested to know that we are almost done with the Dumb and Dumber To (sic) script. I think you're going to like it. (sic)''

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both reported to be on board to reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne respectively in the follow-up to the 1994 comedy, and filming is scheduled to begin shooting next year, working around Jeff's commitment to TV drama 'The Newsroom'.

The sequel centres around one of the duo seeking out their long-lost child for a kidney transplant.

While 'Dumb and Dumber' was a huge hit, the 2003 prequel 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd' wasn't a great success and critics believe it was because it was made without the involvement of the Farrellys or Jim and Jeff.
