Dwayne Johnson, the American wrestler best known as THE ROCK, has announced that he is to return to the world of professional wrestling after a stint in Hollywood.
DWAYNE JOHNSON, the 38-year-old wrestler who left the WWE back in 2004 to pursue an acting career, has announced that he is to return to the world of professional wrestling, reports the New York Daily News.Johnson shocked his legion of fans when he left the federation six years ago, citing his ambitions to become a serious actor. His career in Hollywood began strongly and he reportedly received $5.5 million for his appearance in 'The Scorpion King', allegedly the highest salary paid to an actor making his first starring role. Parts in the likes of 'The Rundown', 'Walking Tall' and 'Be Cool' followed and Johnson began to establish himself as a major force in the action-adventure genre. However, during an appearance on last night's Monday Night Raw', the star told the sold-out crowd, "Finally the Rock has come back home! You helped me accomplish my dreams because you never left my side. Thank you, I love you!" The 38-year-old will be hosting 'WrestleMania 27', which is to be held in Atlanta on 3rd April 2011.
Despite his WWE return, Johnson looks likely to continue his film career and he is set to star in the forthcoming movie 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island', alongside Michael Caine and JOSH HUTCHERSON.
