Elizabeth's Taylor's condition is improving in hospital.

The 78-year-old actress - who was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre earlier this month with symptoms of heart failure - is said to be improving by the day, but will remain under the supervision of doctors for the near future.

Her representative said in a statement: "Elizabeth Taylor's doctors continue to be encouraged by her progress. She is in good spirits and continues to feel stronger every day."

While the screen legend - who underwent heart surgery in 2009 - didn't suffer a heart attack, medical experts have advised she gets plenty of rest to get on the way to a full recovery.

Earlier this month, spokesperson Sally Morrison said: "She is sleeping and resting a lot, which she really needs to recover her strength. Due to symptoms of congestive heart failure, she is still being monitored and continues to need rest to recover her strength. She did not have a heart attack."
