Ellen Degeneres - Ellen Degeneres Returns With Comedy 'Weitz And Wong'
Ellen Degeneres is returning to ABC to produce 'Weitz and Wong', a project that will see her reteam with writer Alex Herschlag, whom she worked with on the ground breaking Disney sitcom, 'Ellen', according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The show will follow a mixed race Jewish-Chinese couple and their two children, who attempt to create their own identity in the face of their very different extended families. The project, from DeGeneres' studio company A Very Good Production, is based on the real life experiences of Herschlag's brother. 'Weitz and Wong' marks the second substantial sale for DeGeneres' production company in recent months. An adult comedy starring her wife Portia De Rossi sparked a 4-way bidding war that was eventually won by NBC. Herschlag served as executive producer on the award winning 'Will & Grace' and recently worked as a consulting producer on 'Modern Family'. Throughout her career in television, Ellen has scooped thirteen Emmy Awards and numerous honours for her humanitarian efforts and charity works. In 2007, Forbes estimated her net worth at $65 million, although that figure has almost certainly increased in the years since.
Back in May 2006, Ellen celebrated the 1000th episode of her daily talk show, featuring guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Justin Timberlake and PARIS HILTON.
