Emeli Sande - Emeli Sande Afraid Of Losing Her Brit Award

Emeli Sande isn't allowing herself to look after her BRIT Award in case she loses it.

The 'Heaven' hitmaker - who beat off competition from Maverick Sabre and Michael Kiwanuka to win The Brits Critics' Choice Award 2012 - doesn't trust herself with the prize because she misplaces her phone and car keys ''all the time'', so she has given it to her manager to look after.

She said: ''I lose car keys and phones all the time. I have always lost things since I was a kid.

''I blamed it on being creative. I lost a clarinet when I was a kid and I still lose things a lot.

''The award itself is such a great design. My manager has got my BRIT so I don't lose it. He is going to keep it safe for me. He's got my passport. I focus on the music. He takes care of everything else.''

The Scottish singer-songwriter - who had a UK number one with Professor Green on 'Read All About It' last September - was a ''bit disappointed'' that she wasn't allowed to go up on stage at the BRITs last week to be presented with her accolade, but she is delighted at how successful her career has been so far.

She added to the Daily Record newspaper: ''Nothing can take away from how happy I am about winning the Critics' Choice award.

''I was a bit disappointed with the way things went at the event, especially as my family were there too. But my album's No1, my single's No2 and I've got loads of stuff going on, so I really have nothing to complain about.

''I'm so grateful to be in this position and to have this kind of success already. It's all a dream come true.''
