Scottish singer Emeli Sande has made U.K. chart history by breaking a record held by The Beatles for almost 50 years.

The Heaven hitmaker's first album Our Version Of Events has spent more time in the U.K. top 10 than any other debut record after notching up 63 consecutive weeks in the U.K.'s Official Album Chart.

The Fab Four previously held the record with their 1963 offering Please Please Me which spent 62 weeks in the top 10 in 1963 and 1964.

Sande tells The Official Charts Company, "It feels quite surreal. To even have your name mentioned in the same sentence as The Beatles is quite mad... For a record to stay there for so long it means that people have connected with it and that's how I'm kind of enjoying and celebrating this record."
