Eminem Treating Laid-off Car Workers To Late-night Show
Rapper Eminem is giving redundant U.S. auto workers a reason to smile this week (15May09) - he's treating 200 laid-off employees to an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles to watch him perform on a TV talk show.
The generous star is a native of Detroit, Michigan, an area nicknamed Motor City and recognised as the hub of the American automotive industry.
And Eminem sympathises with those who have lost their jobs in the global recession by handing out tickets to people in Michigan and Ohio for his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Friday.
Jon Michael Zapf, formerly of Jeep Wrangler automakers Ohio Modular Management, tells the Toledo Free Press: "He is flying us out, all expenses paid, for the show to put a face on the American auto workers who are affected by this hardship. He is supposed to do a meet and greet and sign autographs."
Eminem will play a further two dates in his late-night TV residency - he's also due to appear on the show on 19 and 22 May (09) to promote his new album, Relapse.
