Yesterday (July 24, 2012), fans of Fifty Shades of Grey went wild online, with the news that Emma Watson was being considered for the part of Anastacia Steele in the forthcoming movie adaptation. Perez Hilton set the wheels of gossip in motion when he posted on his blog to say that the film's producers, Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti thought that Watson would be an ideal candidate for the role.
The news went viral very quickly, prompting the producers to try and dispel the myths, via Twitter. Emma Watson isn't the only actor getting thrust into the limelight for the movie though. The role of Christian Grey s still very much up for grabs and many of the movie's fans are impatient to learn who might take the roles on. On Twitter, the producers wrote "teammattbomer tsalcedo2 DanaBrunetti no one's been cast or even approached yet, all just rumors. writer and director first" followed by another which said "All of the rumors on FiftyShades are just that - rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first."
Both Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer have had their names bandied about with regards to the role of Christian Grey. The novel on which the movie is based has, so far, sold over 31 million copies worldwide, having become the fastest selling paperback in history. There seem to be mixed emotions, online, with regards to the casting of the role. The prospect of Emma Watson and Channing Tatum sharing sex scenes onscreen, though, isn't exactly an enticing prospect.
