Country singer Eric Church was once fired from his job at a U.S. TV home shopping network after persuading a drunk patron not to purchase 200 knives.
The Drink in My Hand hitmaker was working at the now-defunct Shop at Home Network, which offered viewers the chance to purchase various goods from the comfort of their armchairs, when an inebriated caller phoned in to buy a large collection of knives.
Surprised by the request, the singer tried to save the customer from making a regrettable decision while under the influence - but the kind-hearted star's boss wasn't too happy.
Church tells People magazine, "I worked at the Shop at Home network. But a guy called in to buy 200 knives for $49.99 (Gbp31.24) at 2 am, and I could tell he was drunk and said, 'Call me in the morning when you're sober.' He hung up, and then I got fired."
