Eric Church - Eric Church Promises Extra Show For Axed Festival Slot
Country singer Eric Church has vowed to stage a special show for fans after his planned appearance at a New York festival on Friday (01Jun12) was axed due to extreme weather conditions.
The Drink in My Hand hitmaker was set to play for fans at the Taste of Country 2012 event in Buffalo, but following performances by stars including the Eli Young Band and Joe Nichols in heavy wind and rain, organisers ruled it was unsafe for Church to take to the stage.
Fans were left disappointed by the decision, but Church has promised to make up for his cancelled set.
He tells Wyrk radio station, "We sat there all day waiting to go. We were all bummed, like everybody in the stadium. Just a bad situation, you know. We're coming back, and we're coming back soon. We're going to do a show for everybody for free. Everybody who's got their ticket gets in.
"Buffalo means a lot to me, and the city means a lot to me... We had fans that travelled to get there, and we had fans that counted on us. We were sitting on go, we were ready, (but) the decision was made that it was unsafe... It's not how we wanted to go out. We wanted to play the show, so we're going to come back and do it.
"You don't want to start a show like that if you're going to get halfway through a song, or two songs in, and have to shut it down. It's just not the way I wanted to go out there and do the show. And then the other part of it was where we were getting to a time situation, where people were pushing me to severely shorten the show, and I didn't think that was fair either."
