Etta James was released from hospital yesterday (05.01.12).

The 73-year-old music legend - who is terminally ill with leukaemia and has battled dementia and kidney disease during the past few years - is said to be in a "stable" condition and is now resting at her home in California with her husband Artis Mills and a doctor after being discharged.

Her manager Lupe De Leon said: "She is at home with her husband and her family by her side. Her condition remains stable. We think it's best for her to be at home."

Etta was taken to the Southern California hospital last month after experiencing breathing difficulties and she has been communicating with just nods and simple words.

At the time, Lupe - who has been the singer's manager for 30 years - said the 'I'd Rather Go Blind' hitmaker was in "pretty bad shape".

Elaine James - who is no relation to Etta - has been caring for her at her California home since March 2010.
