The Pogues and Kirsty Maccoll's Fairytale Of New York is the U.K.'s most played Christmas track of 2012.

The 1987 festive favourite has had the most radio plays from December 2011 to this month (Dec12), according to Prs for Music.

The track beats out competition from Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You and Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas?, which are second and third respectively.

Wham!'s Last Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming to Town, which has been recorded by a string of artists including Bruce Springsteen, round out the top five.

Other songs included on the list are Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody, and Stay Another Day by '90s British boyband East 17.
