Plans are being hatched for a life-sized bronze statue of Amy Winehouse to be installed in a London music venue. Amy Winehouse, who passed away in the summer of 2011, was a familiar face on the Camden music scene and now, her father, Mitch Winehouse, is in talks with the Roundhouse venue - one of the most popular and iconic venues in the area.
A spokesperson for the Roundhouse told The Guardian "We think it's important that Amy's contribution to music is recognised in Camden, but the idea is in its early stages of development at the moment." Amy's second album, 2006's Back to Black earned her worldwide recognition, containing hit singles such as 'Rehab' and 'Love is a Losing Game.' However, she was also rarely out of the tabloids, as she suffered a long and arduous battle with drink and drugs, an issue that was ultimately responsible for her death.
Speaking to the Camden New Journal, Mitch Winehouse said "It will be bronze, life-size and on the first-floor balcony next to the Roundhouse bar. What we'd like to have is Amy leaning over the balcony and looking, and perhaps pointing, towards Camden Town from Chalk Farm Road." Amy's home was recently put on sale by her family, with an asking price of 2.7 million pounds. Her family also inherited a fortune of around 3 million pounds, after her debts and taxes had been paid.
