Jared Followill feels "utterly depressed" about Kings Of Leon's U.S. tour cancellation - but has vowed to use his time out from live shows to work on new material.
The Sex On Fire hitmakers axed their current trek on Monday (01Aug11) to allow frontman Caleb Followill to recover from "vocal issues and exhaustion".
The tour announcement came following a weekend of disruption - the singer walked offstage midway through their show in Dallas, Texas on Friday (29Jul11) after complaining about the intense heat, and the group subsequently pulled out of a concert in Houston on Saturday (30Jul11).
Bassist Jared admits he's devastated to have disappointed their fans by cancelling the shows, but insists he's putting his unexpected time off to good use.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Utterly depressed. It's completely out of my hands. Family has to come 1st. If bass solos & backing vocals were more popular, I'd be there.
"Thanks to all my friends, family, & fans. I'm not going to stop working. I'm going to spend time writing songs and looking to the future. Don't jump to conclusions guys. We're not breaking up."
The band is scheduled to resume live dates in Canada on 28 September (11).
